(Back to fractal applet) (Home)
This is a simple applet to create fractals. To start, select "Plus" or "Circle"
buttons to indicate which fractal you would like to generate. Then, enter your
parameter. If you have selected "Plus," the parameter indicates the magnitude
of the reduction in size for each new iteration. Ideal values range from 1.5 - 2.5
. If you have selected "Circle," the parameter indicates how many circles will
compose a bigger circle. Ideal values range from 2 - 5, though interesting
patterns can be created with much higher numbers (up to 1000) if the number of
iterations is limited (see below). After you have entered your parameter, enter
the number of iterations you would like to perform. You must have at least 2 to
see anything, and the maximum number before your computer crashes is about 12,
though anything above 8 or 9 will seriously slow down your computer and will
produce such crowded images that nothing will be visible. After you have set
the number of iterations, press "Reset." Note that on the first press the fractal
may display the default image, simply press "Reset" again to see the fractal using
the parameters you have entered. If you wish to see the next iteration of the
fractal or previous iterations, simply press the corresponding button. Enjoy!
